David O. McKay (born Sept. 8, 1873, Huntsville, Utah, U.S.—died Jan. 18, 1970, Salt Lake City, Utah) was a U.S. religious leader, the ninth president (1951–70) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). He served as a missionary in Scotland (1897–99) and then returned to Utah to become instructor and principal (1899–1908) of the Weber State Academy, now Weber State College. In 1906 he was elected a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and in 1950 he was chosen as its president.
