Zunheboto, town, south-central Nagaland state, northeastern India. It is situated in the Naga Hills, 41 miles (66 km) northeast of Kohima, the state capital. Zunheboto’s surrounding region is crisscrossed by several faults and is subject to earthquakes. It is hilly and rugged, with an average elevation of about 2,000 to 3,000 feet (600 to 900 metres). The hills are covered with dense forests of oak, chestnut, birch, and bamboo. The Laniye and the Dikhu, the major rivers, are aligned in a north-south direction and flow through narrow valleys.
